The legendary Hollywood actress passed away early on Monday at the age of 97, with her death being referred to in the BBC drama less than day later when one of the character’s was listening to a radio news bulletin – despite being filmed last October.
On top of being panicked by character Donald Trump launching a missile on China, viewers were concerned the programme had foreshadowed Doris’ death and wasted no time in sharing their fear on Twitter.
‘How did #YearsAndYears manage to include the death of Doris Day?’ wrote one.
‘WOW, how did THAT happen? News about Doris Day’s death (aged 97) on the news bulletin in the TV show #YearsAndYears Brilliant!’ added another.
Doris, who was best known for her roles in Calamity Jane, Move Over and Pillow Talk, was surrounded by her close friends and ‘had been in excellent physical health for her age, until recently contracting a serious case of pneumonia.’
It turns out that Years And Years utilised ‘quick and clever editing’ to add Doris’ mention, but we’re still on edge.
