Who is Shamima Begum’s husband, will Yago Riedijk be imprisoned and could his family take their baby?

BRITISH ISIS bride Shamima Begum is married to a Dutch-born convicted terrorist Yago Riedijk.
Let’s take a look at the man who wed Begum after she fled the UK to join Islamic State when she was just 15.
Yago Riedijk, 27, of Arnhem, Holland, is the ISIS husband of Shamima Begum
Who is Yago Riedijk?
Riedijk, 27, left Arnhem, Holland, for Syria in October 2014.
Begum married the Dutchman, then 23, 10 days after landing in the war-torn country in 2015.
According to his neighbours in Arnhem, Riedijk was brought up in a “lovely” middle-class family before converting to Islam and joining ISIS.
In an interview with The Times on February 16, Begum said the last time she saw her husband was about two weeks ago when they fled the village of Baghuz – ISIS’ final stronghold.
He surrendered to a group of fighters allied to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Begum was taken to the al-Hawl refugee camp while Riedijk is being held in another camp.
The pair have had three children together – two of which have died due to illness and malnutrition.

Will Riedijk be imprisoned?
Riedijk is suspected by Dutch cops of being involved in a terrorist plot in his home city.
He was in contact with a gang of seven believed to be planning a terror attack on a rock festival in Arnhem.
The terror cell was infiltrated by cops who supplied them with dummy weapons which failed to fire as other police swooped last year.
Last summer, he was convicted in his absence of membership of a terrorist group meaning he faces a six-year jail term.
A Syrian asylum seeker in Holland reportedly told Dutch police that Riedijk was using the alias Abu Zoraya and was “the right hand of a high-ranking [Islamic State] member in Iraq”.
This contradicts Begum’s claims to The Times that her husband was tortured by ISIS chiefs for being a suspected spy before they fled.

Could his family take their baby?
It is unclear whether Riedijk’s family in the Netherlands could take care of his baby as the Dutch government has refused to offer mother Begum citizenship in the country.
The ISIS bride has insisted she does not want to be separated from the child.
The governments of Britain and Bangladesh, where Begum’s parents are from, have both refused to allow her the right to settle in their countries.
Home Secretary Sajid Javid has suggested that the child could still be a British national.
Begum is currently stateless and her future, and that of her baby, remains unclear.
