What is Yubo? The 'Tinder for Teens' explained



YUBO has been racking up downloads among teens all over the world, reaching over 20million youngsters worldwide.
But what exactly is the app that’s been said to be the “Tinder for teens” and how does it work? Here’s the lowdown…

What is Yubo?
Dubbed as “Tinder for teens”, Yubo is a social media app which lets teenagers interact with one another.
The app has more than 20million users worldwide and was created by three French engineering students.
Previously known as “Yellow”, Yubo allows teens to find new friends by swiping left or right to connect and live stream.
The change of name and new safety features enables app users to communicate with whomever they want to by simply swiping and chatting.
The app is suitable for Apple and Android smartphones, and is free to use.
There is a minimum age limit of 13 on Yubo and anyone under 17 who sets up a profile has to confirm they have the permission of a parent or guardian.

How does it work?
App users ‘swipe’ to accept or decline to talk to someone based on their profile picture or adding friends while live streaming.
If the user receives a ‘like’ from someone they like, they become friends on Yubo.
Through their settings users can manage how much of their location they share to find other users around the world: “My country first”, “All around the world”, “My country only”.
The app is suitable for Apple and Android smartphones, and is free to use

Once this has been set users can discover other people profiles on the app.
Anyone on Yubo will be able to see their live broadcast and send messages, not just their friends.
The user streaming the video can choose whether to add viewers as new friends connecting with friends.
