Wayne Rooney apparently wants to fight Jonathan Ross (Picture: Rex)Wayne Rooney might be planning on swapping the football pitch for the boxing ring.
It has been claimed the 33-year-old – who recently made the move from Everton over to DC United – wants to set up a fight with Jonathan Ross.
According to a new interview with boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, the former Manchester United star is keen to take on the TV presenter.
The Sun states he said: ‘Get me a fight with Jonathan Ross.’
But when it was mentioned getting the 58-year-old in the ring might not be a ‘top’ fight, he reportedly added: ‘I don’t care, I just want to get into a ring with him.’
The publication reports that, when Eddie suggested Wayne wasn’t a huge fan of the chat show host, he ‘fell tellingly silent’.

Their bizarre row is thought to have kicked off back in 2010, after the TV star compared Coleen Rooney’s husband to a gorilla ahead of the World Cup.
Which isn’t ideal…
‘If you want a mascot, don’t look further than Wayne Rooney,’ he said at the time. ‘He doesn’t even need the suit. “And now we bring out our mascot, the gorilla”, and Rooney comes lumbering out.’
Their TV bout might have to take a backseat, however, as it has been reported that Coleen is hoping to step back into the limelight with some on-screen action of her own.
An insider revealed the 33-year-old – who shares sons Kit, Klay, Kai and Cass with the ex-England ace – wants to take part in reality shows to switch up her public image.
‘[Coleen is] sick of being seen as a victim, she’s strong and independent – which she’s proven by how she’s bounced back from Wayne’s latest indiscretions,’ a source said.
Name-dropping I’m A Celebrity and Strictly, they added to the Sun: ‘She wants the public to see her in a different light, rather than just the woman who has to clear up Wayne’s mess. She’s going to use the next few months to spread her wings and meet different people.
‘Coleen is no pushover and she’s going to make sure everyone knows it.’
We would much rather see Coleen in the jungle than her husband in the boxing ring…
