BRITAIN’S weather will see a north-south split today – with blustery gales and icy rain for some while others will enjoy 14C sunshine.
Scotland and Northern Ireland will see the dreariest weather today, enduring 40mph gales and driving showers.

But England and Wales will see warm spring sunshine for much of the day.
Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern added: “A dry day, plenty of sunshine but it will feel colder and it will feel particularly cold on Sunday morning.
“A frost in place under those clear skies, particularly for Northern Ireland, southern Scotland and central parts of England and Wales.
“There will be some lingering cloud across southern counties of England first thing Sunday but we soon say goodbye to that because England and Wales it’s simply a sunny Sunday.
“But for Scotland and Northern Ireland, cloudier skies and some heavy rainfall moving through first thing Sunday.
“This is followed by sunny spells, scattered showers and that brisk wind.”

SUNSHINE AND SHOWERS
The Met Office said that persistent showers will hit Scotland for much of the day – but there will be sunny skies down south.
Its latest forecast said: “In the morning, it will be mostly cloudy in the far south with a few spots of rain.
“It will be cloudy too for Scotland with rain and hill snow.
“Central parts will be dry and mostly sunny.
“In the afternoon, it will be dry with sunny spells for most but showers will persist in Scotland. Breezy.”

And forecasters Meteogroup UK said: “After a rather cloudy start, many central and southern areas will be dry with sunny spells, and feeling warm at times.
“Windy across Scotland with heavy showers and coastal gales.
“Showers spreading into Northern Ireland and northern England later.”
