THUNDERSTORMS and a drop in temperatures will make it a blue Bank Holiday Monday for millions today – ahead of a 30C June scorcher.
Heavy showers will sweep in across much of the UK today – threatening to scupper long-weekend plans for families across the country.

Central and Eastern areas will see the worst of the weather today as temperatures here struggle in the low-to-mid teens.
Meanwhile, heavy showers will hit from this afternoon – and many could be thundery, forecasters say.
Meteogroup UK said of today’s weather: “Central and eastern areas of England will have a cool and showery day.
Northern and central parts will see sunny spells and occasional showers throughout the day, with some heavy and possibly thundery downpours this afternoonMet Office
“Some of the showers will be heavy and perhaps locally thundery.
“However, there will also be some sunshine at times.
“Further north and west across the rest of the UK, there will be sunny intervals with fewer showers.”

And forecasters at the Met Office warned: “Northern and central parts will see sunny spells and occasional showers throughout the day, with some heavy and possibly thundery downpours this afternoon.
“Well scattered showers elsewhere, these fewest and lightest in the southwest.
“Feeling fresher than the weekend.”
The wet weather comes before an expected summer sizzler on the way in the coming weeks.

Positive forecasts had lead to a flurry of bets on the June heat being a record-breaker.
John Hill from bookmakers Coral said: “The early outlook for June is positive and that has prompted a flurry of bets for a record hot month in the UK.
“With the threat of heavy downpours later in the bank holiday weekend, the odds have been trimmed for a record wet May, however, they also indicate temperatures could still rise in the high 20s.
