A total of 24 million need humanitarian assistance, such as clean drinking water.
Britian’s fresh aid handout came as the PM arrived at the first summit of EU and Arab leaders yesterday, in the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh.
Mrs May also uses the meeting to heap pressure on Saudi Arabia to end the bitter conflict, after its jets joined the Yemeni regime’s war against Houthi rebels.
Mrs May said: “The situation in Yemen cannot go on”.
“There must be a political settlement – that is the only way to end this crisis and the suffering it has caused.
“My message in Sharm el-Sheikh is clear: let us now redouble our efforts to build on the progress made and get the Stockholm agreements implemented in full.“ The PM held talks with Saudi’s King Salman in the summit’s margins last night.
