You probably already know by now that Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody has totally divided people – (mostly) critics who thought it was rubbish and (mostly) audiences who rather loved it.
Along with Rami Malek winning the best actor prize for his portrayal of Mercury, the film also won the best editing Oscar.
And some people just really, really can’t believe it. Why? This is why …
People, actual fucking people, are watching scene after scene like this and are saying “bruuuh! best. movie. of. the. year”?
This is objectively bad. Someone with no idea about editing will notice it. My brain is on fire thinking that this is an OSCAR NOMINATED MOVIE! FUCK! pic.twitter.com/QVDCxe2iaf

Not just nominated now, of course.
bringing this back because bohemian rhapsody actually won best film editing pic.twitter.com/D6zF0rTCSH

It IS quite rapid fire, isn’t it?
This clip needs
1) 58 more cuts
2) 3x bigger teeth
3) Plus 100 more cuts

I’d hate to see the shoot script.

Ok I’m gonna need 2 shots a second here guys, remember it’s a static conversation taking place in a pub garden on Venus, please edit it like a car chase from the Fast and the Furious https://t.co/hKMbmsNfV5

It took them 8 cuts for the guy in the suit to pull up a chair and start talking.
Like…This is how you make 10 seconds feel like an eternity.

Breaking 180 degree rule and having the worst shot reverse shot I’ve seen in a while is the worst of the crimes displayed in this clip. There is no time for the audience to digest a thought presented here, I feel like I’m watching a parody of Breathless or something. https://t.co/6SPPEdraYs

Fixed it for them. Enjoy. pic.twitter.com/GuOJlahICN

why do I feel like this was partly because they had to adr this scene because of wind or something that messed with the original audio so to hide it they cut as much as possible https://t.co/DP1CcHUKLa

I counted 50 cuts in that 82 seconds

It certainly deserved to win Most Editing.

Apparently the Live Aid scene was really good, though. And it’s all about opinions, right?
the editing alone in Live Aid session definitely shows that bohemian rhapsody earned it.
