Teen 'begged for his life' before he was 'shot dead for knocking on wrong door'

A teenager who was shot dead after knocking on the wrong door ‘begged for his life’ just before he was killed, police said.
Omarian Banks, 19, was fatally shot on Friday when he mistakenly went to a different apartment at a complex in Atlanta, Georgia where his girlfriend recently moved.
Banks reportedly knocked on 32-year-old Darryl Bynes’ door by mistake, then begged for forgiveness before Bynes shot him in the neck, multiple witnesses told police.

‘He called me and said “open the door.” And that was the last conversation we had,’ she said.

I’m at the wrong door!” The man was like, “No, you’re not at the wrong door!” And he shot two more times and then it was silent.’
Police said Banks began to walk away after he knocked on the door. Before he left, Bynes confronted him from his balcony and brandished a handgun, which he allegedly used to shoot Banks in the neck.

‘I turned him over. He was moaning and groaning and he had tears in his eyes and he was just bleeding,’ Mathis said.

‘I just want to understand why he had to take my son’s life. My son was just confused. He went to the wrong door,’ she said.
‘My son was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was a good person. He just made a mistake by going to the wrong door. He had a big heart and loved everyone that was around him.’

‘He has five kids, he was literally protecting his family,’ she said.

Bynes was arrested Friday night and charged with murder the following morning. He is being held at Fulton County Jail as he awaits trial, although the date has not been announced.
