Taylor is the cover star for ELLE’s music issue (Picture: ELLE UK/Quentin Jones)Taylor Swift is pretty much a genius when it comes to writing hit songs known by everyone across the entire globe and now she’s personally revealed her secret to reeling us in.
The singer appears on the front cover of ELLE UK’s music issue and has penned her own personal essay on the ‘power of pop’ and how she relies on nostalgia for inspiration when it comes to her music material.
From her Hey Stephen days to the sass that came with Reputation, she knows a thing or two about nailing it in the studio and finally spilling all on how she does it, Taylor writes: ‘I like to use nostalgia when I’m writing songs for the same reason I like to take photographs.’
‘I like to be able to remember the extremely good and extremely bad times.
‘I want to remember the colour of the sweater, the temperature of the air, the creak of the floorboards, the time on the clock when your heart was stolen or shattered or healed or claimed forever.

She argued that it’s the more personal pop songs that make waves in the industry and listed a number of hits that instantly take her back to a certain time in her life – including her go-to heartbreak anthems.
‘I’m convinced that You Learn by Alanis Morissette, Put Your Records On by Corinne Bailey Rae and Why by Annie Lennox have actually healed my heart after bad breakups or let downs,’ she confessed.
‘I think these days, people are reaching out for connection and comfort in the music they listen to.’

She has had fans convinced that she will soon be releasing a seventh album.
Taylor seemed to drop a few hints on Instagram by uploading new artwork and immediately, her followers were certain there is a new T-Swizzle era upon us.
So far, she’s keeping shtum on the rumours but fans may get their much-needed dose of Taylor on Carpool Karaoke.
James Corden dropped a massive hint in a tweet-and-delete session and pretty much the whole of Twitter is now convinced Taylor will be joining him in the passenger seat.
The April issue of ELLE UK is on sale 7 March.
