Tamagotchi's are making a comeback

EVERYONE’S favourite nineties throwback the Tamagotchi is making a comeback – but sadly for UK fans the new versions are only launching in the US for now.
The new-style colourful gadgets will come in blue, pink, green and purple and see kids having to look after a virtual pet on an egg-sized screen.

But this time round, there are new coloured-digital screens compared to the old school black and white versions from our childhoods.
There are two styles to pick from; Fairies or Magic, and each comes with its own unique characters and land.
The toys are available to pre-order now in America at Amazon, GameStop, Target, and Urban Outfitters before they roll out nationwide on 28 July.
But they have a hefty recommended retail price of $59.99 (£46.45) – although shops can price higher or lower than this.

Sadly for UK fans, a quick peek at manufacturer Bandai UK’s social media accounts and website seems to suggests that toys aren’t going to be available here yet.
We’ve contacted Bandai and we’ll update this story if we get a response.
Tara Badie, Bandai America marketing director, said: “We wanted to keep aspects of the original Tamagotchi gameplay but make it more relevant for today’s users by adding a coloured-digital screen, new ways to connect and millions of different characters.”
But if you’re itching to get a new Tamagotchi pet to add to the family you can still buy the old style versions here in the UK.
Amazon is selling a whole host of Tamagotchis for around the £20 mark – including this amazing RAINBOW version, although it’s currently out of stock.

For a cheaper Tamagotchi, head to toy shop The Entertainer, which is selling a range of different colours for £10.
Delivery is £3.99 for orders under £40 or you can click and collect in store for free on orders of £10 or more. Use its store locator tool to find your nearest.
According to Bandai, over 82million Tamagotchis have been sold globally over the 22 years since their launch in 1997.
