School bus worker who snatched 14-year-old boy's MAGA Trump hat as it 'personally offended' her suspended

A SCHOOL bus worker who snatched a 14-year-old boy’s “Make America Great Again” Donald Trump hat, as it “personally offended” her, has been suspended.
It’s the latest in a string of anti-Trump incidents reported in the US, where his supporters have been kicked out of bars, accosted in eateries, or even attacked for wearing the MAGA headwear.
The boy could be heard on CCTV footage being ordered to remove his hat

The Martin County, Florida, school bus aide was suspended without pay for four days after she removed Gunnar Johansson’s hat, according to reports.
But, the pupil’s mum and dad, Jackie and Michael Putt, aren’t happy with the disciplinary action.
They believe officials should have conducted an investigation into alleged harassment and political discrimination against their son, writes WPTV.com of West Palm Beach.
Gunnar was wearing a blue hat with “TRUMP” written in white and the MAGA slogan underneath while riding the bus on March 5.
CCTV inside the vehicle has captured the bus worker yelling: “Take the hat off, now!”
Confused, the boy responds, “Now? I can’t wear a hat?”
Clearly cross, she repeats, “take the hat off now, put it in your backpack.”
The boy says: “It’s just a dumb hat.”
‘PERSONALLY OFFENDED’
Martin County Sheriff’s Office said the bus helper, Delores Matheny, was politically motivated when she told the teenager to take off his hat several times – despite the fact that he was allowed to wear it for hat day at school.
None of his fellow Hidden Oaks Middle School classmates were ordered to remove their headwear.
When he didn’t, Delores told Martin County sheriff deputies she removed it and told him to put it in his backpack because she was unaware that students could wear hats that day.
The bus aide told the law enforcement officers that she was “personally offended” by the hat but that she did “totally regret doing this,” TCPalm.com reported.
But Gunnar told deputies that she told him to “never wear that nonsense on this bus again.”
The school district suspended Delores for misconduct, WPTV said.
The boy’s dad told the station: “They have a rule that says you can’t discriminate or harass a child based on political beliefs. And that’s what happened.”
Jackie added that while she “forgives” Delores, “I don’t feel today that our voice was heard” by the school board.
The New York Post reports that prosecutors declined to pursue criminal charges.
Delores will be assigned to a different bus when she returns to work and will have to undergo professional development, which may include “sensitivity training”.
The ‘war’ on MAGA hats rages on in the USDonald Trump supporters have complained about a string of hostile reactions while wearing his “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) hats in public.
Florida man Mark Marlow, 51, alleges that staff at a Sarasota bar booted him out and called the cops because he was wearing his red MAGA hat.
He told the Herald Tribune that he was denied service “because of the hat”.
The bar’s reaction was condemned on social media as “unacceptable” amid fears such incidents “will lead to more division and hostility on both sides”.
Fox News reports that there have been three recent prosecutions “suggesting that President Trump’s supporters who have endured abuse and violence for wearing MAGA hats will receive justice”.
These involved an 81-year-old man being allegedly shoved onto the ground; a teenager having his hat and pro-Trump banner snatched at Santa Fe High School; and a man, 28, arrested for allegedly “sucker-punching” a man who was registering conservative students.
At an eatery, a Massachusetts woman was arrested for allegedly assaulting a patron who was sporting a Trump hat.
According to cops, she was upset he had the audacity to wear the iconic red hat at a Mexican restaurant.
