HUNDREDS of Santander customers reported problems with the the bank’s app this morning – although the bank says this is now fixed.
Users complained of being locked out of their accounts – on what is pay day for many people across the UK – with website Down Detector reporting that 244 people were affected at the height of the problems.

Santander customers in London appeared to be most impacted, according to Down Detector, although the issue did seem to be widespread across the UK.
The bank says the issues only affected a “small number” of mobile app customers who were accessing the platform via a specific server that went down.
Down Detector said that 60 per cent of the issues reported were about mobile banking, with 33 per cent about internet banking and 6 per cent about payment cards.
One user tweeted this morning: “@santanderukhelp the Santander app on iPhone is still broken! When is this going to be fixed?”
Another wrote: “@Santander are you having issues AGAIN??? Seriously wonder why I bank with you, yet again can’t access my online banking.”

Meanwhile another customer added: “It looks like Santander UK is having some issues. Mobile app is broken this morning.”
Someone else wrote: “Think it’s down, unable to log in at all. I just get an ‘Oops something went wrong message’.”
Others reported being able to login only to find their wages hadn’t been paid in as expected.
One Santander customer tweeted: “Having problems here, it was also payday for me and that isn’t showing on my account.”

And some said the issue affected online banking too – although Santander says this was not the case. One user wrote online: “Unable login mobile or internet. Be nice if @santanderukhelp could tell us.”
Santander told The Sun that there was an issue with its online banking app but says the problems have now been resolved.
A spokesperson said: “A small number of customers will have experienced problems logging into our mobile app earlier this morning due to a technical issue.
“We are sorry for any inconvenience this has caused. The issue has now been resolved and the app is working as normal.”

Santander isn’t the only bank to be hit by outages. Just last month Lloyds Bank’s app and internet banking went down leaving customers struggling to access accounts.
But today’s news will be a further blow to Santander customers as the bank announced it is to close 140 branches this year putting 1,270 jobs at risk.
In 2018, the bank revealed a big change to payments in a bid to help stop payment scams.
