Robert Downey Jr hosts lunch for women of MCU during Avengers Endgame

Robert was all about the girl power (Picture: Instagram)The MCU is jam-packed with some badass women – and Robert Downey Jr knows it.
So he made sure to honour the female superheroes as the Infinity Saga came to its close.
Robert, 54, posted a throwback on Instagram to a luncheon he threw for the women of the MCU, and we’re sure even Iron Man was intimidated by the level of awesomeness in the room.
The Tony Stark actor shared a picture of himself taking a photo of Zoe Saldana, Brie Larson, Pom Klementieff, Gwyneth Paltrow, Letitia Wright, Karen Gillan, Elizabeth Olsen, Danai Gurira and Evangeline Lilly, who were gathered around a table in a tent.
Robert wrote: ‘#tbt #throwback #flashback to the #Women of @marvelstudios #mcu lunch I had the pleasure of hosting… #girlpower #epic #bts (📸 @jimmy_rich ) #TeamStark #thankyou good-times getting the ladies together…’

Badass. (Picture: Instagram)It seems the lunch took place during filming for Endgame’s final battle scene, judging by the make-up Karen, Zoe and Pom were wearing, and by those present.
*Warning – huge spoilers for Avengers: Endgame ahead*
Mantis, Shuri, Scarlet Witch and Hope Van Dyne were all dusted in the Thanos snap, while Gamora was killed by Thanos in Infinity War.
However, all of the ladies were reunited in Endgame, when Hulk used the Infinity Gauntlet to reverse the effects of the snap and return the heroes from the dust.
Meanwhile, Gamora got to play a part in the final battle thanks to some time travel trickery.

One woman of the MCU that wasn’t at the special lunch was Scarlett Johansson, who plays Black Widow, the only female OG Avenger.
But all the ladies got their moment on screen in Endgame, during a battle scene which has been praised by many as empowering – but criticised by others as forced.
After Spider-Man (Tom Holland) passed the gauntlet on to Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), he asked how she would get it past Thanos’ army.
Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) appeared behind her, saying: ‘Don’t worry’, with Okoye (Danai Gurira) adding: ‘She’s got help.’
The ladies of the MCU then assembled for a scene that had us totally freaking out in the cinema.
Spin-off, anyone?
Avengers: Endgame is in cinemas now.
