The Dutchman has been instrumental in Liverpool’s bid for the title and has been vital in the Reds conceding just 20 times in 33 games this term – a league best.
Raheem Sterling is the defender’s main challenger for the award and the England international is a close competitor given he’s scored 19 goals in 40 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s men.
Neville, though, believes van Dijk is a clear winner and has backed the former Southampton man to win the award.

‘His passing is a joke. He passes the ball like a midfielder.
‘100% Player of the Year for me, nobody else gets close to him’

Liverpool’s last winner was Luis Suarez in 2014. A Manchester City player has never won it.
