Sevilla star Sarabia will now earn just over £4m a season and the switch will line the pockets of the La Liga club, who paid just £400,000 for him from Getafe in 2016.
Sarabia had been on the books of Real Madrid back in 2010 but took some time to progress, eventually coming good with 23 goals and 17 assists as an attacking midfielder last season.
He was being looked at by Spurs – who are set to sign £60m midfielder Tanguy Ndombele and 18-year-old Leeds winger Jack Clarke – but they ultimately opted against bringing him in.
Sarabia had one year left on his Sevilla contract and they had been trying to get him to sign a new deal for the past two years, say Goal.
They add that “several” offers were made, most recently with sporting director Monchi reaching out to him personally, but that Sarabia had made up his mind some time ago.
And his transfer is particularly interesting because it could be seen as another step towards Neymar’s return to Barcelona.
The £198m superstar is unhappy with life in Paris and has promised to publicly apologise to the Nou Camp side if they take him back.Reports yesterday claimed the Brazilian had agreed a five-year deal with Barca, despite the terms including a significant pay cut.
