PRESSURE grew on Jeremy Corbyn to sack his ally Richard Burgon as he was accused of giving evasive evidence in court.
The shadow justice secretary was quizzed about reports that he said “Zionism is the enemy of peace”, during a libel court case earlier this year.

Shadow cabinet member Richard Burgon saying Zionism was the enemy of peace after repeatedly denying it
Referring to his appearance on the BBC when he denied the report, he said: “I’ve answered this question on the television as well. It’s not my view”.
But bombshell footage of him making the remark in 2014 has now been unearthed.
Campaigners told The Sun that Mr Burgon’s evidence had been undermined by the film and he must be immediately axed by Mr Corbyn.
It comes as the Solicitors Regulation Authority – the regulator for lawyers – revealed they are considering the matter.
Mike Katz, chairman of the Jewish Labour Movement, said: “Richard Burgon hasn’t actually apologised for insulting British Jews by calling Zionism the enemy of peace, nor for dissembling about it on national television.
“This is shameful behaviour from any senior frontbencher for our party, let alone someone who would be responsible for our justice system.
“You can’t play at being a Lord Chancellor-in-waiting whilst making dog-whistle attacks on British Jews and their right, through Zionism, for national self-determination.
“He should resign.”

Euan Philipps, spokesman for Labour Against Antisemitism, said: “Richard Burgon should be removed from his frontbench role by Jeremy Corbyn.
“He should have been sacked for his ‘Zionism is the enemy of peace’ comment and for not being straight about it when asked by Andrew Neil.
“What more needs to happen before Mr Corbyn gives him his marching orders?”
A spokesman for the Solicitors Regulation Authority said: “We are looking into the information we have before deciding on any next steps.”
