Poundland's new £2 meal deal is 'better and cheaper than Boots and Tesco'

IF you’re wondering what to have for your lunch tomorrow you might want to check out Poundland’s new meal deal, which is better and cheaper than Boots and Tesco.
The discount retailer has only ever trialled meal deals in the past but it’s now launching them for good in all stores nationwide.
Poundland has launched a £2 meal deal
Under the £2 deal, you’ll get a sandwich, a bag of crisps, a bar of chocolate, and a drink.
These items cost £1 each if bought separately at Poundland so you’re already saving £2 by bundling them together as a meal deal.
The chocolate bars, crisps and drinks are manufactured by well known brands such as as Mars, Quavers, and Pepsi, while the sandwiches are from Poundland’s own-brand.
Poundland says these will be freshly made each day by its Nottingham-based supplier Greencore, which also stocks the likes of Asda, M&S, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, The Co-op, and Waitrose.

Poundland adds that it will include other items in its meal deal selection in future.
What’s unusual about Poundland’s meal deal is that it bucks the trend by offering four lunchtime treats while its competitors offer just three – making shoppers pick between crisps and a chocolate bar.
So it’s certainly good value for money and it can only be beaten in price by B&M’s £1.75 meal deal which includes a sandwich, drink and snack.
In comparison, Boots’ meal deal costs up to £3.99 outside of London and up to £4.49 in airports and in London, while Sainsbury’s and Tesco both charge £3.
But these retailers do offer more choice – particularly for shoppers watching the pounds – with pasta, salads, sushi, wraps, fresh fruit and yogurts among the options included.
So if you’re after a bit more variety or some healthier options then other supermarkets may still be best.
Jordon Cox, a deals hunter at consumer website MoneySavingExpert.com, also points out that sometimes Poundland sizes can be smaller than other retailers.
Poundland’s cans of Pepsi Max, for example, are only 250ml compared with Pepsi Max in Tesco meal deals where you can get a 330ml can or a 500ml bottle.
He said: “This is the first meal deal to offer two snacks with your lunch, and for £2 makes it one of the cheapest around. There are a few things to watch out for though.
“We know that sizes in Poundland don’t always match up to standard products. You may find that supermarkets offering a £3 meal deal have bigger portion sizes of triple sandwiches, large drink and grab bag of crisps.
“While we haven’t seen Poundland’s offering in stores yet, be aware that you may get a smaller offering.
“Poundland stores also aren’t as widespread as the next cheapest supermarkets which offer £3 meal deals, so don’t go out of your way to get one.”
