Daniel Hall (L) did not have a knife to Emma Ravenscroft’s throat (Picture: Cavendish Press)A mum has been punished after falsely claiming her neighbour held a large blade to her throat.
Emma Ravenscroft, 26, was caught trying to frame Daniel Hall after she forgot to hang up the phone when on the line to the police.
At first she told the operator: ‘He’s running around with a machete and I’m now hiding in the car with my boyfriend.
‘He’s got a big machete in his hand and he just tried to get me with it – he held it against my throat.’
But she then continued to speak without realising she was still on the phone, telling her boyfriend: ‘I’ve said Dan came out with a machete but I’m blagging it.
‘He’s getting locked up tonight. This will get him nicked now.’
The hoax call triggered a major security alert, with armed police scrambled to the scene in Handforth, near Wilmslow, Cheshire, on December 29.
Ravenscroft was subsequently arrested.

Mr Hall told the court: ‘We were just getting ready to turn all the lights off for the night when we heard ranting and raving outside from Emma.
‘We couldn’t properly hear what was being said just loud shouting.
‘We then heard a loud crash and realised the living room window had been smashed. I told Kim to stay where she was and call 999.
‘Emma drove off then came back within 5 minutes and she was kicking and banging at the front door.
‘I opened the front door and said something along the lines of ‘what the f..k are you doing?’ and she struck me twice in the chest.
‘Then Kim appears and Emma grabbed her around the throat. She lost her grip on Kim’s throat but then grabbed her arm and tried to pull her outside by her dressing gown.
‘I pulled Kim back in and went to shut the door but Emma then tried to gain access by putting her arm in the door frame but eventually gave up and left.
‘Next time I opened the door there were up to five armed officers there.’
