MORTAL KOMBAT 11 ships with 24 fighters, including 4 who are totally new to the series.
We know there are at least five more on the way — and those who pre-ordered got Shao Khan too, to take the total up to 30.
Twitter/JokerMovie Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker should be in cinemas this October – and possibly in Mortal Kombat too
Now that the game is out there details are emerging on who else might be coming on the roster.
Data in the code points towards nine new characters — six returning fighters and three totally new entries.
We already knew that there were definitely six fighters coming in the Kombat Pack, which is included in the Premium Edition, but had no idea who they might be.
LeoNatan, a codehound on Reddit, dug into the code for the Nintendo Switch version of the ultraviolent fighter and revealed some very likely candidates.

The code appears to reveal DLC content directories for five returning fighters: Fujin, Nightwolf, Sindel, Shang Tsung, Sheeva.
The same files also show files for some other less-expected names: Ash, Joker, Terminator and Spawn.
These point to four characters who would fit very well in the Mortal Kombat universe, and with the theme of Mortal Kombat 11 in particular.
Spawn’s creator Todd McFarlane confirmed four months ago that Spawn was “on his way” to Mortal Kombat 11, thought this was never officially confirmed by the game’s developers.
The Batman universe’s Joker is also unsurprising. He was featured in 2008’s Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, as well as the Injustice games which featured Mortal Kombat characters.
There is also a new Joker movie due out later this year, suggesting a potential tie-in that makes it all seem more likely.
Starz Entertainment Ash returned a couple of years ago for Ash vs Evil Dead
Mortal Kombat’s 90’s roots and Arnie’s Terminator’s penchant for violence and cheesy one liners would fit right in, especially with MK11’s time travel shenanigans.
A less expected 90’s hero is ‘Ash’ – who other leaks suggest is Ash Williams from the Evil Dead series.
The heavily armed time-traveller version of Ash we see in 1992’s Army of Darkness, complete with boomstick, chainsaw hand and stack of pithy retorts would fit perfectly in the universe too.
Ash has appeared in several video games over the years — and he’s currently starring in a new crossover comic book series too, Army of Darkness Bubba Ho-Tep.
