FRUSTRATED McDonald’s Monopoly fans have branded the game a “scam” and claim that it’s “harder to win than last year”.
The annual competition sees customers collect tokens stuck on specific menu items in a bid to win prizes.

But customers have been complaining that they hadn’t won anything despite eating McDonald’s “every single day”.
One player even tweeted a photograph of more than 20 tokens and wrote: “@McDonald’s can you just admit the Monopoly is a scam. I didn’t even win a simple Apple pie.”
This year’s prizes include Mini Cooper cars, £100,000 cash, holidays worth £2,000 as well as free food from the McDonald’s menu.
Some game pieces will be instant wins, such as a free drink or a burger, and there will also be an online game piece that can be redeemed for a shopping voucher or prize.

But the main game pieces are part of a double or triple set, where the prizes are much bigger but the tokens are harder to find.
The same number of prizes – 50million – are up for grabs in McDonald’s Monopoly 2019 as there were last year but we can’t say for sure whether it’s harder to win or not.
That’s because McDonald’s is keeping tight-lipped on how many stickers are in circulation and whether there are more or less of them than last year.
But we do know that it’s harder to win one of the top prizes by reducing the number of holidays and game consoles on offer.
There are only 50 holidays available, down from 200 last year, and 400 game consoles instead of 500.

Twitter Last year, three out of the four £100,000 prizes were claimed which requires a super rare Mayfair sticker
But it hasn’t stopped bitter fans from slamming the the fast-food chain when they don’t win.
Players have taken to Twitter to express their anger at spending money on the meals but not winning anything in return.
One person wrote: “McDonald’s monopoly is a SCAM u don’t win **** all apart from a fruit bag.”
Another said: “Is McDonald’s monopoly just a giant scam? Never heard anyone say they’ve won a ***ing Mini Cooper.”

Players need Mayfair and a Park Lane token to scoop the £100,000 cash prize but earlier this month, we revealed how there’s always one sticker in a set that’s rarer than the rest.
It’s not impossible to win a top prize, even though the odds may not be in your favour.
Last year, out of the 20 Mini Coopers that were available to win, six were claimed, while three out of the four £100,000 cash prizes were handed out and two of the four £25,000 giveaways were ever won.
A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “We have lots of very happy McDonald’s Monopoly winners and so far, more than five million prizes have been claimed this year.
“There are even more prizes for customers to win this year across the three ways to play, so it’s absolute nonsense to suggest that it’s harder to win.
“Customers now have more choice, with carrot bags, side salads and Big Flavour Wraps being included for the first time, and the same opportunity to win across Extra value meals in the absence of the incentive to ‘go large’.”
