Son Heung-Min’s goal 12 minutes from time put Spurs in front after Sergio Aguero saw his penalty saved by Hugo Lloris in the first half.
Spurs and City were forced to play out six minutes of injury time in the second half due to multiple stoppages, but as Pep Guardiola’s side chased an equaliser during the closing stages the game was halted due to a pitch invader.
Pochettino, however, took matters into his own hands as he ran on to the pitch to ensure that the pitch invader, who had already approached Fabian Delph, would leave the field.

Spurs now face disciplinary action from UEFA for the pitch invader and will most likely be fined for the incident.
Pochettino’s side travel to the Etihad for their second leg against City on April 17.
