AFTER struggling to sign new recruits in the winter transfer market, Arsenal are already looking to make a head start on the summer.
And among their top targets is Gelson Martins who is currently lighting it up in Ligue 1 with Monaco.
The Portuguese winger only joined Atletico Madrid from Sporting Lisbon last summer, but was palmed off to the French principality after struggling for form.
Yet, he has already scored three times, adding a further three assists, since moving to Monaco on loan.
The Gunners are also closing in on Brazilian striker Gabriel Martinelli as they look to beat an incredible 17 clubs to his signature.
The 17-year-old is considered one of South America’s best young prospects, having had previously had trials at Barcelona and Manchester United.
With no international experience, a move could be a problem as a work permit would be hard to come by.
Yet, Martinelli is hoping to secure an Italian passport through family heritage, making him an EU citizen and able to join – as long as Brexit doesn’t scupper the deal.
Now to the current squad and it will be music to Arsenal fans’ ears after a Gunners doctor revealed Hector Bellerin could return from his injury ‘better than ever’.
The Spaniard will miss the rest of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament rupture in January.
And finally, Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang has made U-turn on his decision to retire from international football with Gabon.
The Gunners striker missed their last two matches against South Sudan and Mali with talks that he was considering hanging up his boots for The Panthers.
But he has been named in their 23-man squad to face Burundi this weekend.
