Mark Gatiss left viewers in tears on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins as he revealed how he lost both his mum and sister to cancer.
In the latest episode of the brutal SAS training show, the Inside No 9 and Sherlock star appeared in an ad break to appeal for the show’s cause, Stand Up to Cancer.
During his tape relived the fond memories he had with his family before they were diagnosed and ultimately passed away from the disease.
‘It’s an extraordinary thing to say, but one of my happiest family memories was the week that my mother was dying,’ he said.
‘My sister and my brother and my cousin and I, lots of people we sat around the bed and just laughed and told stories about her, and to her, and just remembered stuff.’
Cared for at home by his sister, Mark was noted that his mother was about to die when she ran out of the room.
‘My dad was in the shower and he was deaf as a post, and she was yelling “dad come now” and then she died in front of us. It’s literally awful in every sense,’ he explained.

Viewers were left heartbroken at the actor and writer for what he had gone through – and sent their love and well-wishes after he made the video in order to aid the Stand Up To Cancer appeal.
