James became the first signing of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reign on Wednesday after United agreed an £18million fee with Swansea for the 21-year-old winger.
The youngster joins United on the back of an exceptional breakthrough season at the Liberty Stadium in which he terrorised Championship defenders with his electrifying pace while notching up four goals and seven assists across the campaign.
Solskjaer consulted former United team-mate, Giggs, about James before advancing with the move and Wales’ manager reportedly gave a glowing reference of the attacker.

Giggs has given United fans an exciting insight into James’ game and lifted the lid on the Welshman’s frightening pace.
‘First of all, his best attribute is his speed,’ Giggs told United’s official website following James’ unveiling.
‘I mean, I’ve probably not seen anyone as quick as him in my whole career.
‘That’s a big shout, because obviously I’ve played [with] and played against quick players.’

‘He can play a number of positions – anywhere across the front three, really – and, this year, he’s played quite a bit for Swansea up front, which he’s not done a lot of in the past, but he’s looked comfortable, ‘ he added.
‘He’s a nightmare for defenders.
‘He’s not that big, so it’s hard to get your arm across him. He’s both-footed, can score goals, create goals.’

‘James’ speed reminds of Usain Bolt – to be so fast like him is really incredible,’ Ross said.
‘In the last ten years I don’t remember one player that gave me this sensation.
‘His acceleration is so peculiar, which is why Manchester United have bought him.

Ross added: ‘In the past I played against a very fast player who, according to me, was the best after [Diego] Maradona – Ronaldo.
‘He was not just known for speed, but for everything.
‘His acceleration looked like James, though at the moment the skills are a little bit different.’
