The Red Devils have to overturn a two-goal defect in France and are without ten first team players against Thomas Tuchel’s men.
Solskjaer has leaned on Ferguson’s expertise since taking over from Jose Mourinho in mid-December and the Scot has been back at the club’s training ground on two or three occasions.
Sir Alex was pictured travelling with the squad to Paris on Tuesday and Solskjaer had contemplated allowing the 77-year-old to take the team talk to rouse the players.

His decision could be an indication that Ferguson may be of better use later on in the season as United face a near impossible task to qualify in France.

With so many injuries and without the suspended Paul Pogba, Solskjaer could be forced into fielding a midfield of Diogo Dalot, Scott McTominay, Andreas Pereira and Fred.
Youngsters Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes, Brandon Williams and James Garner have all been included in the squad – which had an average age of just 23.
