Rakitic wants to stay at Barcelona (Picture: Getty)Manchester United are reportedly hoping to lure Ivan Rakitic to the Premier League despite the player’s insistence he wants to stay in Spain.
Rakitic, who has been heavily linked with a transfer to Chelsea, spoke out on the speculation about his future after Barcelona’s recent game.
The Croatia international dismissed reported interest in him, saying he was happy at Barcelona.
He said: ‘I have three more years on my contract [until 2021]. I want to stay here. I’m flattered that big clubs ask about me, if they do, but I only see myself at Barca.
‘I laugh a little bit in the morning with my coffee when I see [the stories] about my future.’
Despite Rakitic’s comments, Mundo Deportivo claim United are keeping a close eye on Rakitic with a view to bringing the 30-year-old to Old Trafford.

United think they can tempt Rakitic to England with the promise of money and prestige in the Premier League.
Rakitic joined Barcelona from Sevilla in 2014 and has won 12 major honours in his five years at the Camp Nou.
Chelsea have also been linked with the midfielder (Picture: Getty)Barcelona are relaxed about Rakitic’s situation as the Croatian is under contract at the club until 2021.
United are on the hunt for fresh blood for their squad as the Red Devils look to get back on track after several disappointing seasons.
Jose Mourinho was sacked in December and club chief Ed Woodward is planning a big summer which will include the addition of some big name players and a new head coach.
