United’s Player of the Year wants to be in top shape this summer (Picture: Getty)Luke Shaw is determined to hit the ground running when Manchester United return for pre-season and has been training at Carrington this week in an effort to keep fit.
The left-back, who was named both the fans’ and players’ Player of the Year after a strong campaign, was surprisingly left out of England’s squad for the UEFA Nations League this summer.
But far from resting on his laurels, the Daily Mail report that Shaw is looking to get a head start on the tough pre-season that awaits Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s players.

Before the squad departed at the end of the season, Solskjaer also made it clear that anyone who overindulges during the summer and returns overweight will be at risk of being left off the club’s tour of Australia, Singapore and China.
Shaw has had issues with his conditioning in the past and has no desire to get in Solskjaer’s bad books, so has been using the club’s facilities to maintain his fitness while many of his teammates have gone on holiday.
The 23-year-old will enjoy a vacation of his own soon, and is set to once again bring one of United’s fitness coaches with him.
Last summer, Shaw underwent a boot camp with United’s fitness and conditioning coach Gary Walker in Dubai prior to the start of pre-season, with his commitment – and fitness levels – delighting former boss Jose Mourinho.
Shaw will hope it has the same effect on Solskjaer, who wants to turn his squad into the fittest in the Premier League as he installs a high pressing, high intensity new style.
