Thibaut Courtois is in his first season as Madrid’s keeper (Picture: Getty)Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is said to be “calm” despite reports of the club wanting to replace him with David de Gea.
Los Blancos only signed Courtois from Chelsea in the summer despite a long-term pursual of the United keeper.
With the Belgian’s transfer to the Bernabeu, it was expected that the La Liga club would let go of their desire to sign De Gea.
However, according to the Daily Record, that hasn’t happened and they still remain interested in signing the Red Devils shot-stopper.
Courtois was also left out of the starting XI at the weekend with Keylor Navas preferred in goal against Celta Vigo, with reports suggesting that he could be on the way out.
However, the former Chelsea keeper is said to be “calm” at the current situation with expectations to still be the club’s No. 1 for next season.
De Gea has been a known transfer target of United’s for a while (Picture: Getty)De Gea himself has been locked in turbulent contract negotiations with United for a number of months now, which is said to have spurred Real into exploring the possibility of signing him again.
The club’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has refused to meet De Gea’s request of being paid the same as Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba.

His contract expires at Old Trafford in 2020, making the Manchester club vulnerable of potentially losing him on the cheap.
That has led to Real Madrid taking a renewed interest in the 28-year-old again, in hopes of potentially signing him after all.
It remains to be seen whether the two clubs could come to a deal, but it’s known that Real are planning a summer spending spree after their poor campaign this year.
