The Toffees were rampant at Goodison Park as they hammered a hapless United side thanks to goals from Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Lucas Digne and Theo Walcott.
Match of the Day alumni were swift to pile in on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team as Alan Shearer took the mick and Lineker joined in more than once.
Lineker, who played for Everton from 1985-86, tweeted ‘Bring back Mourinho’ as the Merseysiders poured on the misery to their guests.

Earlier in the match, Lineker also tweeted: ‘The wheel seems to have loosened somewhat. Storming start from @Everton.’
This dig was in reference to United’s song for Solskjaer since he has arrived as manager, called ‘Ole’s at the Wheel.’

United are left in sixth spot in the Premier League after the defeat as their hopes of a top four finish take a serious hit.
Their next fixture is at home to champions and local rivals Manchester City on Wednesday, before hosting Chelsea on Sunday in the Premier League.
Solskjaer admitted a top four finish is now unlikely, but he has not given up hope of it with four games to go.
‘We’re way off where we want to be. When you lose in the league like we did here, everyone sees that we have a big job to do,’ said Solskjaer.
‘We have to win all four games, then we might have a chance [of finishing in the top four]. It’s a big ask, but we can do it. We can’t just talk about it, we’ve got to do it.’

Everton boss Marco Silva was understandably thrilled with his side’s performance after a disappointing defeat to Fulham last time out.
‘I’m delighted with the players,’ said Silva. ‘It’s important to remind you what we did in the last four home games – we’re on a fantastic run.
‘Our last performance away was not good enough and we must show something different. We did. We were the best team on the pitch from the first to last minute.’
