Man denies murdering pregnant ex-wife and mum-of-five with crossbow as she did washing up

A 51-YEAR-OLD man has denied shooting dead his heavily pregnant ex-wife with a crossbow.
Ramanodge Unmathallegadoo, 51, of no fixed address, pleaded not guilty to the murder of 35-year-old Sana Muhammad and attempted child destruction.

The victim, formerly known as Devi Unmathallegadoo before her remarriage, was eight months pregnant when she was attacked in front of her children at her home in Ilford, east London, on November 12 last year, while doing the washing up.
The mum-of-five, who was eight months pregnant, suffered an abdominal injury and was rushed to hospital where she died.
Doctors managed to save the life of her baby son Ibrahim in hospital.

The defendant, wearing a pink jumper, appeared at the Old Bailey before Judge Nicholas Hilliard QC.
He spoke only to confirm his identity and enter not-guilty pleas via video-link from Pentonville prison.
His trial is due to start at the Old Bailey on April 8 and last for up to two weeks.
