Lily Allen had to ‘learn to like women’ when her daughters were born

Lily says her relationship with her dad led her to be ‘jealous’ of women (Picture: Getty Images)Lily Allen has revealed she only ‘learned to like women’ when she gave birth to her two daughters, Ethel and Marnie Rose.
Before she became a mother in 2011 the Smile singer said she tried to ‘avoid being a woman’ while growing up because of her father, actor Keith Allen.
‘‘When I was growing up I had a very fragmented relationship with my dad,’ the 34-year-old told Stylist.
‘The way he spoke about women with his friends was quite derogatory so I tried to avoid being a woman.
‘I didn’t really bond with women and I felt jealous of women. Then, when I had my two girls I was like, “OK, I guess you’re going to have to start liking women now, Lily”.
‘But it’s been a complete blessing.’
Lily has two daughters with ex-husband Sam Cooper, 7-year-old Ethel and 6-year-old Marnie Rose.
Last year the popstar said she hadn’t spoken to her father for two months since she wrote in her book, My Thoughts Exactly, he had once suffered from a ‘cocaine-induced heart attack’ during a family trip to Glastonbury when she was 13.

In another interview with Jonathon Ross, Lily revealed her dad had read the book and wasn’t too pleased about the accusation.
‘He texted me, “Err cocaine induced heart attack at Glastonbury. Wow.”

‘I said, “I’m really sorry if I got that wrong but that’s how I remembered it and you never explained it to me in any other way so that’s what I wrote” and he said, “Well that’s not true”.
‘And I said, “I’m really, really sorry if I got that wrong, what was it?” And he said, “Acute food poisoning.”
Awkward.
