Kevin Clifton joined Strictly Come Dancing in 2013 (Picture: Rex)Kevin Clifton has become a household name thanks to his stint on Strictly Come Dancing, and finally won the show last year, after five years of competing.
But the 36-year-old revealed he almost turned his back on the dancefloor altogether, as he had ‘fallen out of love’ with it.
Thankfully, he began performing in Burn The Floor 11 years ago, and has never looked back.
There was a point Kevin ‘fell out of love’ with dancing (Picture: BBC)‘It sort of saved my whole dancing career really. I was in the zone at the time where I was going to quit ballroom dancing as I was quitting the competition world and I had grown out of love with that,’ he said. ‘And I thought I had fallen out of love with ballroom dancing.
‘But then I was asked to come and join the cast of Burn The Floor and I had never seen anything like it. They are very involved with storytelling and character development and it is the best sort of show that exists.’
And he went on to explain he has ‘developed more’ with the show than he has anywhere else in his career – including Strictly.
‘A lot of the Strictly cast are Burn The Floor alumni. Burn The Floor gives everyone an extra quality,’ he added to Hello! Magazine. ‘So when I was asked to go on the tour again this year I jumped at the chance. I feel I developed with the show more than anywhere else in my career.’
As well as Burn The Floor, Kevin will also be taking part in new series All Star Musicals, joining the judging panel alongside Kristin Chenoweth.

Despite winning the show last year, with Stacey Dooley, he recently confessed he hasn’t actually been asked back for the next series yet.
Strictly, what are you playing at?
In a chat with BBC Radio Humberside, the star explained: ‘They ask us, and probably in the next month or two they’ll start making phone calls to everyone to talk about the next series and whether they want you back on the show or not.
‘You’re never contracted to more than just the series you’re on.
‘Hopefully they’ll give me a call and say, “We’d love to have you back for the 2019 series”, and then I’ll be doing that from August to Christmas.
‘You never want to count your chickens.’
