IT’S no secret that Apple smartphones are powerful, but new test results suggest that the latest iPhone models are the fastest mobiles on the planet.
Performance scores reveal that the iPhone XR and iPhone XS even trump their closest rival – Samsung’s new and powerful Galaxy S10.

Smartphones are constantly getting faster, as tech firms like Apple and Samsung load more powerful chips into their handsets.
This makes it possible for phones to run heavier apps more easily, process complex data for smart “augmented reality” tech, and play visually demanding games.
One of the best ways to measure a smartphone’s speed is with a benchmarking app like Geekbench – which runs lots of tests, and then spits out a score.
Geekbench scores are publicly available on line, so you can quickly find speed rankings for smartphones – and Apple fares very well.
Samsung’s new Galaxy S10 models are also very speedy, and will crush almost all of the competition
In fact, Apple handsets take the top three spots when it comes to performance.
In third place is the iPhone XS Max with a score of 11,215, just behind the iPhone XR on 11,218.
And the powerful iPhone XS – with its Apple A12 Bionic chip – takes the lead with a score of 11,268.
The Samsung Galaxy S10, S10+ and S10e take the next three spots with scores of 10,762, 10,721, and 10,605 respectively.
This is followed by the iPhone 8 Plus, an 18-month-old handset, on 10,190.
And the first mobile that isn’t an Apple or Samsung model is the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, in 10th spot with 9,773.
Apple Apple’s iPhone and iPad Pro crush the competition
But all of these smartphones are put to shame by the beastly power of Apple’s new iPad Pro.
The supercharged tablet is equipped with Apple’s most powerful A12X Bionic chip, which is generally considered to be the fastest mobile processor on the planet.
The iPad Pro managed to score a ludicrously high 17,939 on Geekbench, which is seriously impressive.

Of course, benchmark tests aren’t the be-all-and-end-all measurement of a smartphone’s performance.
Different benchmark apps test handsets in different ways, and will often rank mobile phones in conflicting orders.
It’s very difficult to put a score on a smartphone’s performance, so take all benchmark read-outs with a pinch of salt.
And don’t forget: your smartphone’s features, camera quality, toughness and price are probably all better measurements of how good it is.
Don’t just buy a smartphone because it’s fast – instead, make sure it’s got the right tech on board for your own needs.
