How to drive down car costs with cut-price carpet mat care and dashcam gadgets — plus book your Hols from £9.50 and choose from 260 parks

SPEND a lot of time on the road? If so, the latest tech and plenty of creature comforts are a must.
But you don’t have to spend big to pimp your car and keep things safe.

From quality carpets to dash cam alternatives, we show you how to drive down the cost of motoring.
DASH CASH: These gadgets, which record journeys from your windscreen, start from around £50.
But if you download the free Aviva Drive app to your phone and mount that in your car, you can turn your phone into a dash cam without spending a penny. The good news is you don’t even have to be an Aviva customer.
SAVE: £50
ROAD TO FREEDOM: Are you gearing up for one of The Sun’s Hols from £9.50 and want to buy a bike rack or roof rack?
Getting them fitted can be an expensive business — but not if you buy from Halfords. Staff will fit them for free until next Monday.
SAVE: £25
CARPET CARE: The inside of a family car can look like a rubbish dump after school pick-ups, muddy football games and drive-thru visits.
Buying carpet mats from auto shops such as Halfords can cost around £15. But you can clean up with a new set of four from B&M for a tidy £8.99.
SAVE: £6.01
FULLY CHARGED: Keeping all your gadgets charged is essential. Even on short journeys, you will want to stay connected and make sure the kids are entertained.
Halfords has nearly 50 per cent off its high-speed multi-charger, which usually costs £12 and is now £6.50. It slots into your car’s 12-volt socket.
SAVE: £5.50
BRIGHT IDEA: It is important to keep headlights clean and sparkling to stay safe on the road. If your car has grubby lamps, don’t spend £20 to £30 on cleaning kits.
Instead, scrub away with toothpaste on a cloth or brush to bring the lights back to full brightness.
SAVE: Around £20
