THE IPL is back – and viewers in the UK are eager to tune into the Twenty20 showpiece.
Last year Sky Sports subscribers saw MS Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings lift the Indian Premier League trophy at the first time of asking after their return to the competition following a two-year ban.

STAR Gold have the rights to broadcast IPL 2019 matches in the UK.
And the good news for cricket fans is it’s available to watch on both Sky and Virgin Media.
On Sky, Star Gold UK is on channel 729 and is available to all with a standard package.
Whilst Virgin Media customers should head to channel 801 – but you will have to have purchased the Asian Mela pack which is £12/month.
Sony-owned streaming service Hotstar will also be showing matches and UK viewers can subscribe to stream on their mobile, tablet or PC.
A month subscription is £11.99, with 12 months available for £59.99 – head here to sign up.
The first match gets underway at 2.30pm UK time on Saturday, March 23.

Why isn’t the IPL 2019 on Sky Sports?
THE IPL will not be shown on Sky Sports as the Star network exercised a clause in the leasing agreement allowing them to retain this year’s rights.
The move has left Sky executives red-faced after they trumpeted a “multi-year” deal just 12 months ago.
Sky announced last year that they would “broadcast 60 live IPL matches each year in the UK and Ireland starting with the 2018 tournament”.
But responding to a complaint, the network tweeted: “We negotiated 60 matches last year, in what was to be a multi-year deal, although nowhere did it say multiple consecutive years.
“This year, Star India have chosen to retain full coverage.”
Is the IPL on any other channel?
The Star network were set for exclusive UK coverage of the IPL, however BT have stepped in at the last minute to buy rights to this year’s competition, and will now also be showing all matches.
