Homeless man doused in water by rail staff is a convicted killer

A homeless man covered in dirty mop water by staff after falling asleep outside a train station is a criminal who killed his best friend, it has been revealed.
Toby Sawyer, 46, went viral this week after a video filmed by a witness shows a man in a Southern Rail fleece pouring brown water from a bucket onto the floor next to him.
Viewers were furious over the footage, in which the witness can be heard lamenting the ‘disgusting behaviour of another human being’.

The pair had engaged in a furious row over paint, and Sawyer was jailed for five years in 2000.
Police rake in £1,700,000 after selling seized items on eBayMr Moultrie’s sister Margaret Austen, 71, said: ‘I’m not surprised the rail workers wanted to get rid of him because as far as we’re concerned he is dangerous to other people.
‘He stabbed Gary through the heart and he died from massive blood loss before they could get him to hospital.
‘That man was only jailed for five years, it was devastating, not just to lose Gary but also because the man who killed him served so little time in jail.’
Mr Sawyer was seen in the video this week, after which both staff members involved were suspended.
The witness who shared the video online said that before the dirty water was thrown, the man had been sleeping and ‘not doing anything to anybody’.
Others said he had been ‘causing trouble’.
She posted the video to a public Facebook group and said: ‘This is how Southern fail staff treat another human being in Sutton and I didn’t start filming until they had already wacked him with the mop and put even more water on and around him.’

‘We would like to apologise to the homeless man and we are trying to make contact with him to offer help and support’ (Picture: iamjsaclaimant)She told Metro.co.uk the video of the incident – at around 12.50pm on Sunday – had been sent to Southern Rail alongside a formal complaint but that she has yet to hear back from them.
Angie Doll, Passenger Services Director for Southern Railway, said: ‘We take this incident extremely seriously and have started an investigation.
‘The two staff members seen in the video have been suspended.
‘We would like to apologise to the homeless man and we are trying to make contact with him to offer help and support.’
