GUINNESS fans can now get their hands on cheese infused with the flavour of the popular Irish beer.
The after dinner treat from Home Bargains promises to “perfectly balance” the flavour of cheddar with the “distinctive” malted and roasted characters of Guinness.

And it could be the perfect snack to enjoy on St Patrick’s Day, which is coming up on March 17.
A post about the cheese has received nearly 1,000 comments on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group.
One user commented: “Best of both worlds? Cheese and Guinness all in one!”. But another user wasn’t so keen, writing “bleurgh”.
You can get your hands on a 130g portion of Guinness Cheddar in Home Bargains stores with chillers for 99p.
The cheese is available permanently and the discount retailer has over 500 shops across the the UK. Use its store locator tool to find your nearest.
But if you polish off the cheese in one sitting it will set you back 493 calories. That’s more than the reported 125 calories in a 12oz can of Guinness.
An adult man needs around 2,500 calories a day, while a woman needs around 2,000, according to the NHS.
Home Bargains says you don’t need proof that you’re 18 or over to buy the cheese as the alcohol content is so low, although it couldn’t tell us exactly how much booze is in the cheese.
But the packet says it’s only for “purchase and enjoyment by people of legal purchase age for alcohol beverages”. So it may be best to take ID with you to be on the safe side.
Morrisons is the only other big supermarket to sell a Guinness Cheddar. Its version weighs in at a larger 170g and contains 644 calories. But it also costs more at £2.
