CALLING all chocoholics: Home Bargains is selling mega boxes of 100 McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes for £4.
Online, the sweet snacks still cost £4.90 but if you go into a branch you’ll get them for £3.99 a box.
Facebook/Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Home Bargains is stocking the mega boxes of Jaffa Cakes as part of its Star Buy
Every box comes with 10 tubes of 10 Jaffa Cakes which makes each packet cost just under 40p.
Individually, the Jaffa Cakes packets would normally set you back 75p so you’ll be saving 35p per tube by picking up a box.
The only other place we could find the giant snack packs being sold were on Amazon where they cost £10.09 – £7 more expensive.
The deal was spotted by bargain hunters on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook page.
Here’s how to cut the cost of your grocery shopSAVING on your shop can make a big difference to your wallet. Here are some tips from Hannah Maundrell, editor of Money.co.uk, about how you can cut the cost of your shopping bills:
Write yourself a list – Only buy items that you need. If it isn’t on your list, don’t put it in the trolley
Create a budget – Work out a weekly budget for your food shopping
Never shop hungry – you are far more likely to buy more food if your tummy is rumbling
Don’t buy pre-chopped veggies or fruit – The extra they’ll charge for chopping can be eye watering
Use social media – follow your favourite retailers to find out about the latest deals
Be disloyal – You may want to go to different stores to find the best bargains
Check the small print – It’s always worth checking the price per kg/lb/litre when comparing offers so you’re making a like for like decision as a bigger box won’t necessarily mean you get more
Use your loyalty cards – Don’t be afraid to sign up to them all. They all work slightly differently – work out what bonus suits you better and remember to trade in your points for additional rewards
Home Bargains has managed to secure the mega boxes as one of its Star Buys.
These are often one-off bargain products sold for a discount, but like Aldi’s Specialbuys, stock is limited.
Every now and again, supermarkets stock the boxes for a limited time and sometimes cheaper than Home Bargains.
This time last year, Tesco was selling them for £1 per box which would make each packet just 10p.
The current offer is only on as long as stocks last so you might want to head to your nearest store quick.
But don’t worry too much if you miss out because it’s the second time the discounter has stocked them this year.
