Gerard Way 'floored' by response to Netflix's The Umbrella Academy



Gerard Way has shared a heartfelt message for fans (Picture: Getty)Gerard Way has been completely bowled over by the response to Netflix’s adaptation to his comic book series The Umbrella Academy.
The programme has quickly become an international favourite since dropping on the streaming site earlier this month, with two superfans dedicating their entire wedding to it.
The My Chemical Romance front man, who revealed he was inspired to follow an apocalyptic theme for the show after witnessing 9/11, thanked fans for showing their support to his superhero franchise.
Taking to Instagram, Gerard addressed his 1.7million followers: ‘So grateful to see so many people loving and binging the show, some of you on 2nd or 3rd viewing.

This isn’t the first time the creator has discussed the show on his social media page, having also unveiled his favourite part of the series just a few days ago.

Gerard originally talked about creating The Umbrella Academy in an unearthed video from 15 years ago and showrunner Steve Blackman has teased another four or five seasons – although a second installment is quite a way off.
The Umbrella Academy is available to stream on Netflix.
