Game Of Thrones star Jerome Flynn nearly quit acting before Bronn role

Jerome Flynn says landing the role of Bronn on Game Of Thrones ‘opened doors’ for him (Picture: HBO)Game Of Thrones star Jerome Flynn was falling out of love with acting before he landed the role of Bronn.
Bronn is back in action for season eight, and it’s a part Flynn says encouraged him to stick to the day job.
While he ‘didn’t say goodbye’ to acting, there were no roles that interested him and he was concerned as he hadn’t been on screen for a while.
‘I didn’t actually know if I was going to carry on. I hadn’t been on screen for 10 years,’ he said.
But then he landed the part of Bronn which he says ‘changed his life’.
He said: ‘It’s opened up so many doors, given me some beautiful friends and amazing experiences.’
The final season is already underway with Bronn appearing to do a deal with Cersei Lannister in the first episode.
Teasing what fans can expect, Flynn told The Mirror that the hit show will ‘always be a part of me’.
He added: ‘It’s going to be extraordinary. The first episode was the best I’ve ever seen, it’s beautifully done.’

The actor said season 8 is ‘extraordinary’ (Picture: HBO)Bronn’s fate remains to be seen but given the former singer’s recent comments at the season eight premiere, the future’s not looking bright for his character.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk and other press, he said: ‘Bronn’s a determined type. He’s either going to get his castle, or he’s going to die getting it.’

Asked if the actor was happy to still be alive and kicking in the final season, he replied: ‘I can’t deny there’s a part of me that wanted to make the end.
‘But I was so happy… I mean, I didn’t expect to make 3 seasons, let alone 8, so… yeah.’
Of course he could just be talking about season eight in general rather than the finale, but still – we don’t have a good feeling about this.
Game Of Thrones airs Mondays at 2am and 9pm on Sky Atlantic. Seasons 1-7 are available on NOW TV.
