FACEBOOK has launched a new way for people to wish you a happy birthday.
It’s added a new type of Story that lets friends and family add digital birthday cards, photos or videos to a story to celebrate your big day.

Known as Birthday Stories, the tool rolls out to users worldwide today.
It’ll help people leave happy birthday messages that are “visual, memorable, interactive and fun”, according to Facebook.
“People have always come to Facebook to connect with friends around day to day life, and celebrate important moments, like birthdays,” Facebook said in a statement.
“Sharing these photos, videos and memories can make a birthday so much more special.”

To use the feature, simply tap on the new birthday notification.
You can choose to ping a photo or video, or use on of Facebook’s digital birthday cards to craft your message.
This creates a “birthday wish” which is added to your or your friend’s story.
You can even add music to it to give it a birthday soundtrack.
Over the course of the day, the story will become a “personalised birthday slideshow” as people add posts.
“It’s like getting a personalised birthday card from everyone you care about, no matter where they are in the world,” Facebook says.
Facebook is ramping up its work on Stories, which has seen a sudden spike in user numbers after a stuttering start.

Facebook revealed a new design for its website last week.
The social media giant saw its profits cut in half recently after admitting it’s facing recording-breaking £4billion US fine over data scandals.
