IT’S a bank holi-yay! But sunny fun over a three-day weekend can play serious havoc with your budget.
You don’t have to sweat it, though. Here are some great deals you can bank on.
Long holiday weekends can play havoc with your finances, but we’ve got the bargains to keep the costs down
DEALAYS: Taking the train today? Keep an eye on the Gordon’s Facebook and Twitter pages because if there are delays, the gin brand will be offering vouchers for a free G&T.
Vouchers are redeemable at Slug & Lettuce and Yates bars until Monday.
SAVING: Approximately £8.80
FILL ME UP: I told you yesterday about how to save 5p a litre off fuel at Morrisons. Now Sainsbury’s has launched its own big “10p off” deal when you spend £60 in store or online between now and May 7.
Certainly worth it if you are doing your big shop for the bank holiday.
SAVING: £5.50 on an average
55-litre tank of fuel
BBQ: Aldi is now selling its huge Big Daddy rump steak. The 450g BBQ showstopper costs £4.99. This compares to £3.19 for Aldi’s British Aberdeen Angus rump steak at 227g. Bargain.
If sausages are your sizzler of choice, head to Tesco. There you can grab ten Finest British Cumberland sausages for £3, down from £4.
SAVING: £1 per pack of sausages
PROSECC-WOAH: Aldi and Lidl have both slashed prices for their best-selling Prosecco, usually £5.25 a bottle, to £4. One of my best tips is to think about whether you have a big event coming up and buy a bit more than usual. You can get 25 bottles for £100 as part of the sale. And M&S has a third off selected bottles of wine, including Weather Station Malbec for £4.66.
SAVING: £1.25 per bottle of Prosecco
TOY STORY: Get a freebie for your little one if you are near a Smyths toy shop tomorrow. Stores will be handing out a LEGO gift on a first come, first served basis, while stocks last, from 9am.
SAVING: £2.99 for LEGO figure
