AND they’re off! Royal Ascot starts tomorrow, and while you may fancy a flutter, don’t fritter away your cash unnecessarily.
If you’re heading there later in the week, check out these filly good savers . . .
9 There’s no need to overspend on race day outfits when you can get them for just a fraction of the priceCredit: PA:Press Association
DRESSED TO IMPRESS: Race- day outfits can cost a packet, but try saving a bundle by heading to next.co.uk — where you can now buy Tesco’s bargain F&F range. Order before midnight and you will be able to pick up your package for free from your local Next just 24 hours later. I love the tie-dye jumpsuit. It looks a more expensive than its £18 price tag.SAVING: £3.99 on standard delivery
HAIR-PIECE OF CAKE: No race day outfit would be complete without a fascinator. Asos has simple and stylish options for just £10, compared to similar versions for £29.50 at M&S. Or try making your own. Use any plain Alice band and attach a statement hair clip. Claire’s has clips that would work well for around £4.50 — a huge saving on a new fascinator.SAVING at Asos: £19.50
SUITS YOU: If you don’t want to fork out for new threads, Moss Bros offers full suit hire from £42. If you are after a simpler look, try updating old shirt and trouser combos with a smart new blazer. Burton currently has a huge sale on, with blazers up for grabs for as little as £18, down from £60. I was also impressed to see full suits from £59 in the sale.SAVING: Up to £42 at Burton
FINE DINING: Many areas at Ascot do not allow punters to bring their own picnic. Check the rules of the enclosure you are going to and plan accordingly. If you’re not allowed to bring your own, consider stocking up on snacks in the car or making a pit stop somewhere with deals on your way home. For example, Prezzo is currently offering 30 per cent off. If you fancy a tipple, the nearby Loch Fyne has 2-4-1 cocktails from noon to 7pm, Sunday to Thursday, and from 5pm–7pm, Friday and Saturday.
