Do you want some ice for that burn, Theresa?
Emily was recently announced as the new host for the BBC’s flagship current affairs show Newsnight, taking over from Kirsty Wark, but has kicked off the new job by criticising May over a lack of impact or interest.
‘She’s very hard to make interesting,’ said Emily (Picture: Getty)‘I’ve tried really hard to understand her and I don’t think I do,’ she said.
‘I very rarely remember her saying anything that changes (the world). She’s very hard to make interesting. It’s the same with Jeremy Corbyn.
‘This is a time when we are crying out for strong leadership and we’re not seeing it and I find that desperately worrying.’
Corbyn was also criticised by Maitlis (Picture: PA)Speaking to The Times about her new role and modern UK politics, she also compared Brexit to the Sandra Bullock action film Speed.
‘Nobody dares look away. It’s like Sandra Bullock in Speed,’ she said.

In mid-March Emily was praised for reflecting the feelings of British people across the country with an almighty eye roll while discussing the latest Brexit chaos.
The 48-year-old delivered an exasperated side-eye while struggling to get a definitive answer from Labour shadow secretary Barry Gardiner as the pair discussed Labour’s stance on another general election.
As Mr Gardiner evaded answering what his party’s manifesto would be, the presenter rolled her eyes, looked to the right and huffed as she ruffled her papers.
