TWO pensioners were killed when a van being chased by police crashed into their car early today.
Scotland Yard said the van driver was arrested on suspicion of drug and drink driving and causing death by dangerous driving.

Police began following the Ford Transit when they saw it being driven erratically at speed around midnight.
The driver failed to stop and they gave chase through Eltham, South East London.
After around six minutes the Transit smashed into a Citroen C3 on Footscray Road.
London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade crews were called to the crash.
The two people in the Citroen could not be saved and died at the scene, police said.

The van driver was arrested and then taken to hospital with “non life-threatening” injuries.
Scotland Yard’s Directorate of Professional Standards is investigating, as is routine in deaths following contact with police.
The Met has also referred the case to the national watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
