Dubois sends message to Joyce with spectacular fourth round knockout of Lartey

DANIEL DUBOIS sent a message to Joe Joyce and anyone else in the heavyweight division who will listen after flattening Richard Lartey in four rounds.
Dubois faced the greatest diversity of his career yet having gone to war with his Ghanian opponent who did not come to make up the numbers.

Having only received a Visa on Thursday night Lartey was out to make his travels worthwhile as he pushed the unbeaten Dubois like never before.
The first round was routine for Dubois, 21, who plodded forward with a stiff jab smashing the face of Lartey with the right hand following.
Dubois started unloading to the body in round two and a low shot forced Lartey to take a minute off and with a concerned look on the face of the Ghanaian it looked as though Brit fight fans would get a premature ending – like that of Amir Khan and Terence Crawford a week earlier.
Lartey, unlike Khan, continued to fight and retaliated with a thudding right hand but the young Brit took the shot well.KNOCKOUT KING
In round three Dubois, for the first time in his 10 fight career, looked to have been in danger as he was caught with a right hand while looking to end the fight early.
KO artist Dubois, however, regained composure and began his own attack as Lartey looked to have wasted his opportunity for a mighty upset.
A right uppercut from “DDD” was the beginning of the end for Lartey who held on for dear life and made it into the fourth stanza.
But the travelling African would find himself crushed on the canvas as a mammoth right hand from Dubois left Lartey dazed and confused.

Referee Bob Williams called off the fight as a replica shot from Dubois could have left his opponent in severe trouble.
After his 11th win and 10th KO, talk soon turned to Dubois facing 2016 Olympian Joe Joyce, who is unbeaten in eight all coming by stoppage.
Terms for the domestic punch up had already been agreed before Dubois London smashing of Lartey – though Joyce could opt to look elsewhere with a shot at Manuel Charr’s WBA ‘Regular’ heavyweight world title in his plans.
