Donald Trump's ex-fixer Michael Cohen banned from working as lawyer

Donald Trump’s former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen has been disbarred from practising law.
The decision, which renders Cohen no longer able to act as a lawyer, followed his felony conviction for lying under oath to Congress.
Documents to disbar Cohen were filed Tuesday by Manhattan’s Appellate Division, First Department and announced after Cohen met with the Senate Intelligence Committee to discuss Trump’s ‘lies, racism and cheating,’ which Cohen claimed he witnessed while working for the reality-star turned president.

The Attorney Grievance Committee, who also filed for Cohen’s disbarment, moved to remove his name from the list of state attorneys after his August 2018 guilty plea on charges of making false statements, campaign finance violation, and tax evasion.

‘(Cohen) served on several matters as an attorney to President Trump, when the latter was CEO of the Trump Organization. Respondent was charged in connection with his appearances before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence,’ the request read.
‘Specifically, it was alleged, and respondent expressly admitted at his plea, that on or about August 28, 2017, he knowingly and willfully made a materially false and fraudulent statement and representation, namely, he caused to be submitted a written statement to SSCI containing material false statements.’
