David Haye warns Anthony Joshua he needs to get comfortable in battle zone

Joshua intends to rematch Ruiz immediately (Picture: Matchroom)David Haye has warned Anthony Joshua he must become comfortable in the ‘battle zone’ if he is to have any hope of beating Andy Ruiz in a rematch later this year.
Joshua is determined to gain immediate revenge over Ruiz, and reclaim the three world titles he lost to the Mexican, but a host of boxing experts have warned Joshua off jumping into the second fight.
Conspiracy theories have been swirling about Joshua and his mental state heading into the fight in New York earlier this month, but Haye believes AJ’s performance shows he has been ‘protected’ from tough sparring.
‘It appeared that Ruiz was more battle hardened in the battle zone and Joshua looked uncomfortable,’ Haye said.

‘People from the street. But that hasn’t really been the case with Joshua.
‘He needs to spar with all-comers who are allowed to try to knock him out.

‘My sparring partners were allowed to try to knock me out if they could — and that’s what made it live.’
Frank Warren has already urged Joshua to avoid the rematch with Ruiz, as has heavyweight great George Foreman.
Eddie Hearn activated the rematch clause just a few days after the defeat, and Haye admitted he did not believe it was a good idea for Joshua to take on Ruiz again.
‘I think he can win the rematch but he has to change some things in training,’ he said.

‘If he went and had a couple more fights I think he would have a much better chance in the rematch.
‘I really want to see the rematch and I’d like to believe it was a fluke.
‘But I rewatched the fight and everything Ruiz was doing was calculated and well thought out.’
