A DEFECTING former Tory MP has revealed she thought a last minute plea from David Cameron was a wind up.
Commons Health Committee chair Sarah Wollaston received a text from the ex-PM imploring her to rethink her shock decision.

Mr Cameron’s message read: “Hate going on rumours but is it too late to persuade you to stay? Love and best wishes DC”.
But she revealed to BBC Radio 5 Live: “I didn’t realise it was from him, because you get a lot of people who send you texts with numbers you don’t recognise.
“And I had no way of knowing if that was from him or not.”
Ms Wollaston was one of three senior Tory MPs who walked out of the party to join the Independent Group on Wednesday.

She refused other Conservative MPs’ demands yesterday to contest her seat in a by-election, saying: “When you vote in an election, you vote for the person, you vote for the individual.
“That’s why their name is always in bold and the party is underneath.”
